A 29-year-old man is set to appear in court to face accusations that he assaulted two state troopers after they stopped his car for a traffic violation and found a bag with thousands of OxyContin pills worth more than $125,000 in Kingston.
State police say Vincent Alberico of Centerville is scheduled to be arraigned at Plymouth District Court on Wednesday on charges of assault and battery on a police officer as well as possession of illegal prescription drugs with intent to distribute.
OxyContin is a prescription medication used to relieve moderate to severe pain.
Police say neither trooper was injured during their brief struggle with Alberico on Tuesday.
The suspect was in police custody and could not be immediately reached for comment. It was not immediately clear if he has legal representation.
