Cohasset: Man arrested for attempting to rob convenience store with hammer

A suspect in an attempted robbery in Cohasset is due in court Monday in Quincy District Court after he allegedly demanded cash from the owner of a Tedeschi’s convenience store.

37-year-old Caleb Slotnick was held on $25,000 cash bail after being arrested.

Police responded to a 911 call just after 6:30 a.m. Sunday and were told a man had just left the store following a hold-up attempt. The store owner said when he refused to give the suspect, who had a hammer, any money, he took off.

Two Cohasset police officers found him a short distance away and arrested him.

Slotnick faces charges of attempting to commit a crime, armed assault with intent to rob, assault with a dangerous weapon and threatening to commit a crime.
