Hingham: N.H. man killed in Cushing St. crash

A New Hampshire man is dead after driving off the road on Thursday morning in Hingham.

Police Lt. Michael Peraino says that at 7:23 a.m. they received multiple calls of a motor vehicle crash on the 399 block of Cushing Street. When crews arrived they found a 2001 Mazda off the road, on its roof and declared the male driver dead at the scene.

The victim has been identified as 64-year-old Dean Simmon of Rindge, New Hampshire. Police say Simmon worked at the Hingham Lumber Company in Cohasset. Witnesses told police that Simmon was travelling north on Cushing Street when the Mazda drove off the road into the woods. Lt. Peraino said that from the description of the event, they believe Simmon may have had a medical issue that contributed to crash.

“Witnesses said that there was no braking by vehicle before it went off the roadway,” said Lt. Peraino.

“So, that leads us to believe there may have been a medical condition that preceding this crash.”

Cushing Street was closed for three hours while the crews worked at the scene. The crash is still under investigation.
