Boston: State police cruiser allegedly hit by Weymouth woman

Massachusetts state police say a woman driving drunk in Boston injured a trooper in a wrong-way crash.

Police say just after midnight Saturday, trooper Brian Quigley noticed a car driven by 28-year-old Cara Dellabarba of Weymouth headed the wrong way toward him on Morrissey Boulevard.

They say Quigley put on his emergency lights to stop her, but she hit his cruiser’s front left quarter and unsuccessfully tried to flee.

Troopers arrested her at the scene on charges including drunken driving and wrong-way operation.

She was later released on $5,000 bail.

Quigley was treated and released at Boston Medical Center for a lower body injury.

State police say it’s the 45th time since 2010 an on-duty Massachusetts trooper has been hit and injured by a motor vehicle.
