Kingston: Tanker leaking fuel on Route 44

A tractor trailor with a pierced fuel tank caused a bit of a mess on Rt. 44 eastbound, by the Rt. 80 overpass in Kingston on Monday.

The rig is a type of new car carrier and was full of vehicles. At around 1:45 p.m. it was pulled over into breakdown lane and the Department of Environmental Protection had arrived on scene.Preliminary reports say that about 30 gallons of fuel out of a 60 gallon tank leaked out.

A storm drain is located near by and officials are taking steps to prevent the fuel from leaking into it.
