Plymouth: Selectmen hold forum with nuclear plant officials

By Bobbi Clark

The Plymouth Board of Selectmen are holding a public forum Tuesday night concerning the operation of the Entergy Nuclear Power Plant, but the public will not be allowed to question officials.

Selectman Chairman Bill Hallisey said, “At this particular forum, we’re not going to allow public to engage with the gentlemen at Entergy. Right now we’d basically like to allow them to do their presentation—they have their questions at hand–there is obviously so many hours in the night for us to get through this.”

Citizens were given the opportunity to submit questions a week in advance, Hallisey explained.

“We wanted some time to look at the questions ourselves. We wanted the people from Entergy to have a chance to look at the questions so that when we’re there in the forum that they’re addressing the concerns of the residents.”

The town’s Nuclear Matters Committee will be attending and will have reviewed the questions. Entergy’s Manager of Government Affairs Jack Alexander will be present, joined by Entergy officials of his choosing, as well as town officials and the legislative delegation. The forum begins at 7 p.m. Tuesday at North High School.
