Weymouth: Man accused of driving drunk in fatal crash to be arraigned

A Weymouth man facing charges in a fatal February 13th crash in Weymouth that killed his 25-year-old passenger is expected to appear in Norfolk Superior Court for arraignment.

25-year-old Mathew Murray was scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday morning, after being indicted on charges of motor vehicle homicide while operating under the influence, operating under the influence–second offense, and negligent operation.

Authorities say Murray was driving drunk ust before 5:30 a.m. on February 13th when his pickup truck hit a snow bank near Commercial Street and Harding Avenue and rolled over, killing his passenger. When officers arrived on scene, they say Murray’s breath smelled of alcohol, and there were empty beer cans in the truck and on the ground.

April Ivil was killed in the crash, after she was ejected from the truck when it flipped over. Murray and a second passenger were treated for minor injuries they suffered in the crash.
