Whitman: Police search for bank robber

Whitman Police are on the lookout for a suspect who robbed the Sovereign Bank on Washington Street on Friday night just before 7:00.

Police say the suspect, who did not show a weapon, entered the bank and handed the teller a handwritten note demanding money.

The suspect is described as an African-American male, between 20 and 30 years of age, about six feet tall, weighing 225 pounds, with a thin mustache and goatee.   

The suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.

Police from Whitman and East Bridgewater set up a perimeter, but came up empty.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call Whitman Police.
