Brockton: Police investigate fatal shooting on Harvard St.

State Police are investigating a fatal shooting in downtown Brockton on Thursday.

At 10:41 a.m. Brockton Police got a call of a gunshot victim at 33 Harvard Street. When they arrived, they found 41-year-old John Anthony Gray of Brockton in the driveway suffering from gunshot wounds to the head and body. He was taken to an area hospital and pronounced dead Thursday afternoon. Gray did not live at the address where the shooting took place.

Witnesses at the scene reported that person in a Lexus SUV had suffered a gunshot to the head and two suspects were fleeing the area. Witnesses told police that two suspects changed their shirts and were heading east on foot towards Lawrence Street.

According to scanner reports, one suspect was described as a black male with a black and white shirt and wearing a baseball cap. Police set a perimeter in the area of Lawrence Street and Ridgeway Court. Officers were seen searching backyards in the neighborhood with K-9 units.  

The search would later extended to a wooded area and river near that area, before breaking off. Police blocked off a section of Harvard Street, as BCI worked the scene for evidence.
