Hanover selectmen met with the town’s DPW director Monday night to go over plans for the reconstruction of West Avenue.
Public works director Victor Diniak says the $400,000 reconstruction project between Pleasant Street and Cedar Street will begin with drainage work, starting in early to mid- July.
Diniak says the project will also feature a new sidewalk.
“We will be building a new sidewalk. There are two small, six to seven foot culverts we will have to cross with foot bridges. We also want to carry the sidewalk around the corner on Cedar Street, to get it far enough from the intersection for good sight lines and put in a crosswalk going from there, across the street,” said Diniak.
However, Diniak says it’s possible that easements may be needed to build the sidewalk in front of 4 or 5 houses between Pleasant Street and Brook Circle.
The project will be funded with a portion of the $8.5 million dollar override the town voted for in May.
Construction is expected to last 3 or 4 weeks and should be completed by the end of August.
