Hull: “Field of Flags” at the Paragon Carousel to Honor Flag Day and the Armed Forces

Honor a veteran or member of the Armed Services by purchasing a flag in their name to be displayed during the “Friends of Paragon Carousel Salute of The Armed Services” from June 4th to June 14th at the Paragon Carousel in Hull.

On Flag Day, Tuesday June 14th, from noon to 6 p.m., all veterans and current members of the armed services will be honored with a ride on the carousel which includes a brief ceremony at 5 p.m..

“We decided that it’s important to be able to honor the flag on Flag Day, which has sort of become an obscure holiday, and it really needs to be elevated a bit. And we also wanted to be able to reinforce the folks that are in the armed forces presently and honor them along with the veterans,” said Dennis Zaia, President of the Friends of Paragon Carousel.

Flags may be purchased in the name of the Honored Veteran or service person for $20. Donation forms are available at any George Washington Toma TV and Appliance store in Weymouth and Brockton or at the Paragon Carousel Saturday and Sunday from 11AM to 5 PM, on the website at www.paragoncarousel.com, or by mail to: Field of Flags, Friends of the Paragon Carousel, P.O. Box 100, Hull, Mass. 02045.

Flags will be displayed until June 18th when they can be claimed by the donor. All proceeds will benefit the Friends of Paragon Carousel’s efforts to restore and maintain Hull’s most beloved historical amusement and the Hull Veterans Council.

“It helps out enormously. The funds help us to maintain the carousel in its location, which is one of only 17 of over 150 carousels in the country that is still in the location where it was originally placed,” noted Zaia.
