Marshfield: Girl struck by car while skateboarding

A child was hit by a car just before 6 p.m. Wednesday in Marshfield center.

A witness at the scene, Trinka Trubia, said she heard the crash when she was coming out of Haymarket South.

Trubia said she heard a crash and a scream and starting running toward the direction of the sounds. She found a young girl lying on the ground, holding her head. She said the girl was alert, responsive and answering questions. Trubia the girl was frightened and said her legs hurt, and Trubia held her hand the whole time.

Trubia said the car hit the girl as she was skating in the crosswalk on Webster Street right in front of the skate park.

According to Trubia, the girl was flipped onto the windshield, breaking it, and  then fell onto the street.

Marshfield Fire transported one victim to the hospital and police had a red sedan towed from the scene.
