Marshfield: Seawall Committee making progress

The Marshfield Seawall Committee continues to make significant progress and will also receive help from agencies in the Commonwealth and the federal government. Among the agencies getting involved are the Army Corps of Engineers, the Environmental Protection Agency and the state’s Coastal Zone Management Agency.

Committee Chairman, Joe Rossi said, “”The seawalls in Marshfield are doing okay in the areas we’ve decided to replace them. The new wall is actually doing all right. We were down there yesterday. Even though some of the sand had been removed and then put back, the new wall should be under construction just north of the current new wall at the end of next month.”

The height of hurricane season will be here soon said Rossi, “And that’s why we’re going to be starting construction on the new wall in the middle of next month just to make sure we don’t get stuck in the situation where a hurricane could go over the broken wall.”
