A Republican Massachusetts State Representative from Whitman is heading to Virginia later this summer to take part in a bi-partisan political program aimed at developing the leadership potential for emerging political leaders.
State Rep Geoff Diehl of Whitman is one of two state legislators chosen to receive the scholarship; the other is Democrat Nick Collins from South Boston.
Diehl, a freshmen representative, serving the towns of Whitman, Abington and East Bridgewater, said the courses are run like a PHD seminar, and has five books to read before the four-day long program next month, which will bring together fellow legislators from all over the country.
The emerging leaders program, paid for by the State Legislative Leaders Foundation, takes place July 11-14, at the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business in Charlottesville, VA.
