Marshfield: Police arrest prostitute, pimp after undercover sting

A Marshfield woman has been arrested and charged with prostitution and drug charges after an undercover sting operation this week. Police say they have also arrested the woman’s boyfriend, who they say acted as her pimp.

Police say 22-year-old Christine Sargent of 160 Quincy Avenue in Marshfield posted erotic ads nearly every day, going by the name “Arianna”, on the website, Back Page dot com. She described herself as “low-volume, easy-going, and guaranteeing to put a smile on her clients’ face”.

She was arrested Wednesday night at about 7 p.m. after an undercover officer visited Sargent, and had a short conversation that implied a “transaction”. Authorities then arrested Sargent, who is also being charged with possession of a class A drug, and being present where heroin was kept.

Her boyfriend, 23-year-old, Adam Butts of 150 Plymouth Avenue is facing charges of deriving support from prostitution, procuring a person to practice prostitution, as well as possession of a class A drug, and being present where heroin was kept. Police say he acted as a lookout.

Authorities say they recovered Sargent’s appointment book, and are continuing their investigation.
