A Boston man is facing murder charges in connection with a deadly home invasion in Rockland on July 8th.
18-year-old Orlando Harrington Kavanaugh is being charged with murder, armed home invasion, armed assault with intent to murder, and firearms-related charges for the murder of Tina Gonsalves of Rockland.
The Plymouth County District Attorney’s office says that on July 8th at about 7:40 a.m., Rockland police received a 911 call from residents at 50 Concord street. Witnesses reported an armed intruder with a handgun broke a window, unlocked a door and entered a first floor apartment. He then reportedly threatened the residents, firing at least two shots inside.
Gonsalves was reportedly shot while struggling with the gunman. Reports also suggest that a resident of the home pulled a gun and shot the intruder. The assailant took off in a gray Dodge Ram pick-up.
Kavanaugh is expected to be arraigned in Boston at Tufts Medical Center, where he’s being treated for a gunshot wound to the shoulder.
