Whitman: Woman falls from ladder while trying to rescue cat

Fire officials say two people were taken to the hospital Monday afternoon after one of them fell from a tree in Whitman.

Fire Chief Timothy Grenno says that just before noon on Monday at 107 Fullerton Ave., a woman was attempting to climb a ladder to rescue a cat from a tree just before noon time when she fell about 15 feet, onto a male who tried to catch her.

The two were taken to the Brockton Hospital, and the woman was later transferred to a Boston Hospital. The woman suffered moderate injuries and the male victim suffered non-life threatening, minor injuries.

A med-flight was requested but was canceled because authorities determined it would take too long to arrive.

Authorities have declined to identify the victims,
