Abington: New veterans medallions to be presented at cemetery ceremony

It was a crime that caused anger nationwide:  The theft of 18 copper or bronze markers from veterans’ graves in Abington.

All but five were able to be fixed, and those that needed to be replaced, will be presented in a ceremony at Mt. Vernon Cemetery at ten a.m. on Monday.

Abington Director of Veterans Services Joseph Colantoni told WATD that Bronze Craft Corp. of Nashua, New Hampshire heard about what happened and donated new markers.

The crime was discovered July 14th by an Abington woman who was visiting her husband’s grave.

So far there have been no arrests.
