Norwell: Fire Chief says town is 95% without power, causing frustration

Town and public safety officials all around the South Shore are expressing their disappointment with the response and communication from management officials from NStar and National Grid

In Norwell – Fire Chief Andy Reardon is frustrated.

“We’re experiencing some difficulty with the power grid coming back, from what I have been told coming in from Scituate that feeds some of our main feeder lines along Main Street and branch off of that,” said Fire Chief Andy Reardon.

National Grid had reported as of Tuesday night, that they planned to have Norwell fully restored by September 2nd at 12pm.

“Our priorities are clearly to get some of our critical buildings back up online,” said Reardon. “I am concerned with the South Shore Medical Clinic, one of our nursing homes is still on generator power, and now we are starting to see many of our residents who are depending on battery or electric power run into some difficulty and that is starting to stress our system a little bit.”

As of Tuesday night they still had more than 4,200 customers in Norwell with out power.
