West Bridgewater: Early morning fire destroys home

An early morning fire in West Bridgewater destroyed a family’s home Thursday morning.

The West Bridgewater Fire Department reports that the call of fire came in Thursday at about 2:30 am.

Crews found fire showing on arrival at 34 South Street. The fire quickly went to two alarms and mutual was called in from Bridgewater, East Bridgewater, Middleborough, and Raynham. Lakeville provided station coverage.

Officials say one firefighter reportedly fell through one of the floors but is okay.

The fire marshall’s office was called to the scene — but the fire is not considered suspicious.

Authorites say the home is uninhabitable and will have to be demolished.
