Middleboro: Driver, three police officers, taken to hospital after rollover crash

A man has been med-flighted to the hospital with serious injuries after a rollover motor vehicle crash in Middleboro Wednesday afternoon.

Police say a 30-year-old man was taken to a Rhode Island hospital after the vehicle he was driving rolled over around 1 p.m. on Route 28 near I-495.

Scanner reports indicate that there was also a fire in the car while the man was still inside. A utility pole snapped and was impeding the roadway as a result of the crash.

Three police officers were also taken to the hospital for evaluation with non-life-threatening injuries.

Both sides of 495 were shut down to allow the med-flight helicopter to land and retrieve the victim.

State Police Collision Analysis Reconstruction Team, State Police Detectives assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s offices, State Police Crime Scene Service and the State Police Crime Lab are all assisting with the investigation.

The highway was re-opened Wednesday afternoon, but Smith Street, which runs between Route 28 and Miller Street, was still closed as of 5:00 p.m..
