A 2.5 mile recreational rail trail in Rockland is on track for completion this fall.
Most of the rails and ties have been pulled up, debris taken away, and several street crossings removed.
The surface of the trail will be formed from a composite material.
The work has been done by the non-profit Iron Horse Preservation Society at no cost to the town of Rockland.
Motorized vehicles and nighttime use will not be allowed.
