W. Bridgewater: 9/11 memorial to open next September

West Bridgewater will be soon be home to a permanent 9/11 memorial, with an 800-pound steel piece of the World Trade Center as its focal point.

The project will include a brick terrace beneath the girder, along with lighting to keep it illuminated at night and a memorial stone.

The site will have brickwork to match the outside of West Bridgewater’s fire station and will feature a large headstone with memorial engraving, as well as two benches representing the police and fire departments, enabling visitors to sit and reflect on events of 9/11.

The project, expected to be finished next September, will include memorial bricks that may be purchased and engraved with names or phrases.

Donations to the 9/11 Memorial may be sent to the West Bridgewater Fire Department on West Center St.
