Duxbury: New school project heads to ballot vote

Duxbury Special Town Meeting voters have moved construction of a new middle-high school a big step closer to reality, but the ultimate fate of the project won’t be known for another week.

After three hours of presentations, discussions, and voting…the co-located Duxbury Middle-High School passed the two-thirds vote needed in order to bring the question to ballot on November 5th.

More than a thousand Duxbury residents showed up Saturday morning to vote on Article One, filling the auditorium to capacity.

Though the majority of the Finance Committee supported the article, member Colleen Brayer disagreed with certain aspects of the school, and said the town could do a more thorough investigation.

However, Duxbury resident Dick Sigrist said the school building committee did its best in designing and budgeting.

Though the school article passed, the fate of the project lies in a ballot vote Saturday, November 5th.

Polls will open at 7:00 a.m.
