Hingham: Special town meeting passes middle school project and an athletics fields project

Hingham residents will have their voices heard again this weekend, as they head to the polls to approve, or reject, funding for a new middle school and to fund a $935,000 athletic fields project.  A yes vote at a special town meeting Monday night paves the way for a referendum question to be put before residents this weekend, asking to fund a new $60.9 million dollar middle school. The $935,000 athletic fields project was also approved on Monday night.  Proponents of the school project say now is the best time to build the school because of a 44% reimbursement from the Massachusetts School Building Authority. The projects need a majority vote Saturday to move forward.  Polls will be open on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
