Norwood: Drug bust results in 3 arrests

Three area men were arrested and scheduled for arraignment after an investigation into the illegal sale of oxycodone pills.

Placed under arrest were 60 year old James Hughes of Duxbury, 34 year old Edward Hartnett of Braintree, and 26 year old Brian Denoncourt of Maine.

Investigators from Braintree, Quincy, Duxbury, Marshfield, Norwood and the Massachusetts state police investigated the trio for two months.

Police allege that every month, Hughes was obtaining a large monthly prescription of oxycodone pills, and then selling the pills to Hartnett.

On Friday afternoon, detectives followed Hughes, who was carrying about 2500 oxycodone pills he’d picked up earlier in the day, to a motorcyle shop that Hartnett owns in Norwood, “Bikerz Finest”

Hughes was stopped by police after he left the shop.

From his statement, they were able to obtain a search warrant and found the oxycodone pills, $5100 and two stun guns.

All three men are facing charges of trafficking in oxycodone, over 200 grams, and conspiracy to violate the controlled substances act.

Hartnett and Denoncourt also face charges of possession with intent to distribute oxycodone and possession of a stun gun.
