An attempt by a Whitman man to evade arrest after allegedly stealing four video games, even after throwing them at an off-duty police officer, didn’t work.
Braintree police report that 30 year old Micheal Venuti of Whitman was arrested after they say he stole the video games from the Best Buy store on Union Street. The games were valued at just under $240.
An off-duty federal officer was leaving the store when he saw Venuti and heard the anti-theft alarm sensors sounding.
Venuti then tried throwing the games at the officer. A struggle ensued, but Venuti was taken into custody, and charged with shoplifting.
