Duxbury: Former gym teacher faces child porn charges

A man who once taught physical education in the Duxbury school system is facing child pornography charges in Florida.

65 year old William Thomas of Fort Myers was arrested as part of a 10 month long investigation by the Lee County Sheriff.

Thomas was one of 9 men arrested in October in one of the biggest child porn busts in Lee County in recent memory.

Anthony Schall, the public information officer with the Lee County Sheriff’s Department, confirmed the arrest.

Thomas’s wife spoke at his arraignment saying that he had never been in trouble before and stated: “He chaired and organized many programs, several programs, “HALT” being one of them, and he was also involved in the “DARE” program in Massachusetts”

In addition to being a gym teacher in the Duxbury schools for over 30 years, he also coached several sport teams.
