Weymouth: Mayor Sue Kay soundly defeats challenger

In Weymouth, incumbent Mayor Sue Kay has won a second term after defeating challenger Robert Montgomery Thomas 6,381 to 2,248 Tuesday night.

In the race for five councilor-at-large seats, incumbents Robert Conlon, Brian McDonald, Michale Molisse, Patrick O’Connor all were reelected and candidate Jane Hackett won a seat, with candidate Ted Miller the odd man out.

In district 6 incumbent Michael Smart won over challenger Shawn Hardy, 1,000 to 561. In district 2, incumbent Thomas Lacey got 1,278 votes, while a sticker campaign brought in 124.

Newcomer Tracey Nardone was the top voter getting in the four-person race for three seats on the school committee, followed by incumbent Gail Sheehan and incumbent Sean Guilfoyle. David Sullivan lost his bid.

All three proposed charter amendments, to change three deadlines in the school committee budget process, passed.
