Weymouth: Woman injured in Route 53 accident dies

Weymouth Police report that a woman in her 20’s suffered fatal Injuries when she was struck by two vehicles as she tried to cross Route 53, near Cannoli’s Restaurant in East Weymouth, around 8:30 Tuesday night.

The woman was struck by one vehicle and was hurled into oncoming traffic. She was then hit by a second vehicle.

The driver of the first car stopped to help.

Police say the driver of the second car that hit the woman did not stop and fled the scene.

No charges have been filed against the driver of the first car.

The woman, 21 year-old Stephanie Harrington of Braintree, was taken to South Shore Hospital in Weymouth where she was pronounced dead.
