An arrest has been made of the man who police say hit an elderly woman with his car in a convenience store parking lot and then took off.
46-year-old Douglas Hassam of Pembroke was taken into custody Thursday by Halifax police .
Police had been looking for several weeks for the driver of the vehicle that knocked 76-year-old Florence Pelequin over in a Tedeschi’s parking lot, back on December 2nd. Pelequin suffered several injuries including a broken leg.
Hassam faces several charges, including leaving the scene of an accident causing personal injury, operating without a license, and operating an unregistered vehicle.
Police received over a dozen tips when they released a picture of Hassam from video taken at the store.
