Marshfield: Fire dept. seeks historic restoration of old fire station

The Marshfield fire department is asking local residents for help in restoring a piece of history.

Fire Station 1 on Massasoit Ave. has been used in that capacity since at least 1921.

The building was spared from a massive 1941 fire that gutted more than 500 structures in just three hours.

A proposal before the Historic Commission and the Community Preservation Committee would restore the building to how it looked in 1941.

Fire chief Kevin Robinson is asking anyone with old photos of the fire station from that year to provide copies.

If you can help, please call him at (781) 834-5546.
