A Republican challenge for Democratic Representative Tom Calter’s seat in the state legislature is a definite possibility. Although there has been no official announcement, it looks like there will be a Republican primary battle for the nomination of a candidate to run against State Representative Tom Calter in the 12th Plymouth District. Two Plymouth School Committee members are planning to run against Calter, who has held the seat since 2007. One of them is former School Committee Chair Debra Betz: “I feel that I bring a different perspective. My focus and my emphasis is on education as well as family services and I’m very fiscally conservative and I feel that less government is more.”

Bob Morgan is currently Vice Chair of the School Committee: “I just feel committed to serve the district. And I feel that while Mr. Calter is a nice gentleman, I just feel that there just needs to be more balance up on Beacon Hill. One party rule breeds corruption.

The state primary is scheduled for early next fall.
