They’re doubling the reward for the safe return of a cat stolen from an animal adoption center at Independence Mall in Kingston on Christmas Eve.

The group Friends of the Plymouth Pound is now offering $1,000 for the four-month-old feline, named Speckles.

Two witnesses apparently saw a teenage boy in the mall wearing a T-shirt with the group’s name on it when the adoption center was closed.

The back door to the center was found open after the cat vanished.

The un-neutered, short-haired cat has tiger stripes and a patch of fur missing from back of his neck.

Anyone with information is asked to call Kingston police at (781) 585-0523.
