Scituate: Wind Turbine Blade Signing

Scituate’s Department of Public Works scheduled a wind turbine blade signing ceremony for the town’s residents Saturday afternoon. The turbine, a partnership of the town and Solea Energy, will help power the town’s municipal buildings. It will be erected on the former landfill, next to the Widow’s Walk golf course.

Because of the snowstorm, families who use the golf course for sledding saw the turbine. Cars filled the parking lot and a steady stream of people passed by the blade, stopping to sign it.

“It’s impressive,” Sumul Shah, a principal at Solea said. “It’s really a testament to Scituate and how committed the people in Scituate are to renewable energy.”

Weather permitting, Solea will lift the blade in place by next week.
