Weymouth police say an alert citizen prevented a bank robbery.
The citizen called police Friday afternoon to say a man wearing a mask had driven up to the South Shore Savings Bank on Washington Street.
The driver, identified as Ioannis Ladopoulos of Weymouth, saw police closing in and turned into a nearby apartment complex, where he was stopped.
Authorities say Ladopoulos was wearing a disguise, and had a note demanding money and indicating he had a bomb.
Ladopoulos is scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Quincy District Court on charges including attempted robbery.
