Weymouth: Police looking for witnesses to fatal crash

State police are looking for witnesses to a fatal crash that killed a Rockland man and his 2-year-old son.

The crash happened on Route 3 in Weymouth Monday night, killing 35-year-old Curtis G. Thompson Jr. and his son.

Thompson was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu that slid out of control in the southbound lanes around 7 p.m. before hitting trees off the road.

Police say it appears Thompson wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, but that the boy was in a car seat. Authorities pronounced both dead at South Shore Hospital.

Troopers talked to crash witnesses and still are investigating possible reasons for the wreck–and are now looking for additional witnesses. Anyone with information is asked to call the State Police Barrack in Norwell at 781-659-7911.
