A City Councilor-at-Large from Brockton has announced that he is running for state representative of the 11th Plymouth District.
Robert Sullivan, who is a Democrat, is seeking the position after incumbent Geraldine Creedon, announced that she would not seek re-election.
Sullivan, an attorney, was elected to the position of City Council president in 2008.
He also has acted as chief legal counsel to the Joint Committee on Election Laws for the Massachusetts House of Representatives.
As a result of the state’s recent redistricting, the 11th Plymouth District now consists of the west and north sections of Brockton and precincts 1-5 in neighboring Easton.
