Hingham: Woman walks away after crash linked to texting

Hingham police say it’s a warning against distracted driving.

They’re blaming texting for a weekend car crash.

The driver, 28-year-old Amanda Barron of Cohasset, admits she was looking at a text message on her phone…when she drifted off the road, across a driveway, hitting a tree.

Barron walked away with only minor injuries.

She was cited for lane violations and for texting while driving.

Under state law, reading a text is considered the same as sending one while driving, which is illegal.
