Massachusetts: Incumbent Congressman picks up big labor endorsements

An incumbent congressman, who has announced he plans to run  in the newly created 9th Congressional District, which encompasses southeastern Massachusetts–including Cape Cod, Plymouth and New Bedford – has picked up two key endorsements.

Congressman Bill Keating, who currently serves the 10th Congressional District, but has announced he will run in the newly designed 9th District,  has received the endorsement from the AFL-CIO–the state’s largest labor union.

K eating also received the endorsement of the 1199 SEIU–the largest healthcare workers union on Cape Cod and the South Coast.

Keating’s current district has been eliminated under newly designed congressional maps, merging Keating’s 10th congressional seat with the 9th Congressional District seat held by longtime Democratic Congressman Stephen Lynch.
