Middleboro: Four hospitalized after 2-car crash

A serious motor vehicle crash on Friday in Middleboro sent four to the hospital.

Middleboro Fire Chief Lance Benjamino says the crash occurred at approximately 2:15 p.m. Friday in the area of 170 Bedford Street (Route 18). Chief Benjamino says it appears that a passenger vehicle with three occupants was struck on the passenger-side by another vehicle with one occupant.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the other car had chest and head injuries and was taken by ambulance to South Shore hospital.

Two people in the other car had to be freed with the jaws of life. From that vehicle, a 30-year-male with multiple trauma injuries was taken by med-flight to a Boston Trauma Center, an adult female with abdominal and chest injuries was taken by ambulance to South Shore Hospital, and the male operator taken by ambulance to Jordan Hospital.

Chief Benjamino says the State Police Reconstruction Team and the Middleboro Police Department are investigating the crash.
