It’s been nearly one year since the devastating earthquake that rocked Japan and wreaked havoc on a key nuclear reactor.
The Pilgrim facility in Plymouth has a similar design, and Marshfield resident-turned-activist Anna Baker says now is the time to send a message to U.S. regulators about shoring up safety.
Monday night, Baker is planning to ask selectmen to support a Town Meeting warrant article calling on the Nuclear Regulatory Commission to adopt safety recommendations.
Other South Shore communities are doing the same thing, or are planning to.
Baker says her Pilgrim Coalition is also petitioning the governor to push the N.R.C. to adopt the recommendations at Pilgrim.
