Police are seeking a complaint of domestic assault and battery against former Massachusetts gubernatorial candidate and convenience store magnate Christy Mihos.
Mihos is scheduled to appear before a clerk magistrate in Barnstable District Court next month to determine whether the charge is warranted. If the magistrate decides it is, the allegations will be forwarded to the district attorney’s office.
Yarmouth police say the first incident occurred in town on July 7, and the second happened in Stuart, Florida, earlier this month. Police in Florida are involved in the investigation.
The 62-year-old Mihos, who founded a chain of convenience stores, ran unsuccessfully for governor as an independent in 2006 and again as a Republican in 2010.
