Brockton: Illegal immigrant accused in Marshfield murder due back in court

He’s accused of stabbing the mother of his young son to death last year, and on Monday, a Brazilian man illegally living in Marshfield, will be back in court.

41-year-old Marcelo Almeida is slated for a pre-trial conference in Brockton Superior Court.

He’s charged with stabbing 24-year-old Patricia Frois multiple times last September in the Village at Marshfield apartment they once shared.

Police found Almeida hiding in a shed near the complex off Fox Run.

Authorities say his relationship with Frois had soured and he moved out not long before the murder.

Almeida’s lawyer has expressed doubt about whether some witnesses in his client’s trial will show up to testify because of their own immigration issues.

Almeida, whose five-year-old son is living with relatives in Brazil, pleaded not guilty to murder last month.
