Cohasset: Former board member wants elected water and sewer commissions gone

A former Cohasset selectwoman will ask the spring Town Meeting to vote on abolishing the town’s elected water and sewer commissions.

Instead, Karen Quigley is proposing a combined appointed board with advisory authority.

Daily management of the water department would be the responsibility of a new town position, a public works supervisor.

Quigley says it’s just a coincidence that she’s bringing up the idea at the same time the town manager faces termination because of conflicts with the water commissioners.

Cohasset Town Meeting is scheduled for May 12.
