Brockton: Shooting leaves several wounded

Authorities are investigating a shooting on Highland Street in Brockton, which left several people wounded.

Reports of the shooting came in shortly after 11:30 am on Wednesday. Police reportedly have at least one person in custody, one being taken to a Boston hospital, another being taken to a local hospital, with authorities having reported earlier that one more may still be at large.

However, Police at about 1 o’clock reportedly arrested a person who they were searching for at 29 Ames Street in Brockton. It’s not clear if this person was tied to the shooting.

Police are reporting that a shotgun was used, and wounds sustained by one of the victims, are consistent with that weapon.

Authorities had also reportedly located one weapon on Belmont Avenue, while they towed a gold 1995 Lexus from the rear of 180 Highland Street, where the shooting occurred. Police reportedly had found blood inside that car.

Police are also alerting area hospitals (South Shore Hospital in Weymouth and Morton Hospital in Taunton) to notify police if someone had arrived there seeking treatment for a gunshot wound.

Police, at one point during the incident, were searching for a gray 2004 Honda Accord with Massachusetts license plate, 971MG4. This vehicle was located at 42 Lawrence Street in Brockton at about 1:20 p.m..
