Hingham: Another “psychic” sought in crime against the elderly

Hingham police say they are searching for another so-called “psychic” wanted in connection with scamming a local senior citizen.

They are now looking for 43 year old Teresa Nichols, of Albany, New York, who was sometimes seen in Hingham.

There is an outstanding arrest warrant for her on two charges: larceny over $250 ( a felony) and conspiracy (a misdemeanor).

The “first” psychic in the case, 24 year old Tiffany Crystal Smith, was arraigned Tuesday in Hingham District Court on similar charges.

She was ordered to post $1500 bail and is due back in court on April 30th.

Police allege the 24 year old Smith scammed a 69 year old Pembroke woman out of jewelry and money, including telling her that there was a “curse and black cloud” over her head, and she would need to come up with $16,000 to lift it.

The woman was also told that if the money were not paid, a specific relative would commit suicide.

When the victim returned to the psychic’s business at 49 Whiting Street in Hingham, she brought with her an antique $500 ring and a check for $7,000.

The victim was told to do whatever she had to do to get the additional $9,000.

The woman then contacted her family and the police got involved.
