Hingham: Lauter wins selectmen’s race; Town Collector remains elected position

There was a good turnout for Hingham’s elections on Saturday, with 22% of registered voters hitting the polls.

Bernie Manning ran for Selectmen, School Committee and Town Moderator, but lost in all three races.

Irma Lauter received 2,081 votes to win the selectmen’s race, defeating incumbent John Riley at 1,435.

Two seats on the School Committee were won by Paul Gannon 2218 and Dennis Friedman 1731, both winning over Bernie Manning with 867.

A question whether the Town Collector should go from an elected position to one appointed by selectmen was defeated, 1508 to 1489.

For Town Moderator, Michael Puzo won 2847 over Bernie Manning with 599.

John Stoddard won an opening on the Municipal Light Board 2095 over Roger Freeman with 1119.
