Hanson: Town Meeting to consider two overrides

Hanson residents could be facing a pair of proposition 2-1/2 overrides following tonight’s annual town meeting.

One question proposes a $390,000 override for the purchase of a new fire truck. The second calls for a $235,700 tax hike to pay Hanson’s share of the Whitman-Hanson Regional School District budget for the next fiscal year.

If one or both overrides pass tonight, they will be voted on at the annual town election on May 19.

Also on the warrant is a proposal to create an agricultural commission to represent the town’s farmers.

In addition to the Annual Town meeting, a special town meeting will be held to deal with routine money articles.

About David Skill

Dave Skill’s radio career began in the fall of 1964 when he arrived on the campus of Holy Cross College in Worcester, MA. Dave barely got his bags unpacked when he paid a visit to WCHC, the campus radio station. And, before he knew it, he was spending so much time as a disc jockey and news writer/reporter, it seemed like he was majoring in “radio” and minoring in academics at “The Cross”. As you might imagine, his grades reflected it! During his junior and senior years, he also worked weekends in news and as a disc jockey at WNEB, the CBS radio affiliate in Worcester at the time.
