Red Sox: Sox lose to Orioles 9-6 in 17 innings

The Baltimore Orioles outlasted the Boston Red Sox 9-6 yesterday in 17 innings. First baseman Chris Davis struck out five times, grounded into a double play and then tossed two scoreless innings of relief after Baltimore ran out of pitchers. Adam Jones hit a three-run homer in the top of the 17th off Darnell McDonald, an outfielder the Red Sox put on the mound once their bullpen was empty.
